I’m at an impass.  I can’t decide quite where to take my future.

Options:

1) Find myself a “normal” job at MegaUberCorp, and “settle” - this would require mostly lobotomizing my own mind, due to my growing distaste for large corporations - ask me over a beer or other alcoholic drink about my employment history since college.

2) Find myself a small company that I can work at - this I could handle, if only I could find one where I’m useful and can actually earn enough to live on.  That, and finding a small company that actually has room for me.  I’d love to do this - if St. Francis High School had an opening and could offer a paygrade that I’m willing to accept, I’d be back there in a heartbeat.

3) Be a “somebody” - make a difference.  I look at our current economical, political, and sociological situation and see it continuing to deteriorate.  Plus, its only picking up speed, as it prepares to take a giant leap off the steep cliff it has found itself precariously close to.

I would LOVE to take option 3.  But, I don’t know how to sustain myself (financially) on this option…

As a fall back, I’d take number 2 - as I could still part-time work on #3, as time permitted.  But, finding such a job is difficult - and many small companies don’t last.  I’m not worried about finding work - its finding work I can STAND that is difficult.

Option number 1 isn’t something I look forward to - even though its what my degree is aimed at.  I’d have to start out in a helldesk-bitch position to move up in most companies, and half of those are dead-end-we-expect-you-to-burnout-in-6-months-anyway positions.

I need help deciding…any job opportunities would be perfect as well, any input at all.

Perhaps its because I’ve been single for so long…its been proven that people with no relationships put all their energy (unhealthily) into work…
